A Beginners Guide: Veneer ME

Written by Optident | 31 May 2018

Porcelain veneers are a major part of everyday aesthetic dentistry, this hyper-delicate art takes skill and precision from both the clinician and lab technician. The advancements in technology, materials and techniques mean that minimally invasive treatments and no prep veneers are becoming even more popular. Whilst the thin, fragile qualities are advantageous for the patient, it does present the dental professional with some difficulties -  how to carry, transport, and manipulate these delicate veneers with total protection? Recognising this issue; SmileLine have developed VeneerME, providing a premium solution which offers maximum security for your veneers, from creation to completion.

What are Veneer ME boxes?

Maximum Security For Your Veneers

Strong Sticky Gel-Pad

VeneerME is innovative in its design, featuring a polyurethane gel base which veneers adhere to instantly. The sticky pad is extremely strong, meaning that preparation can take place in a safe environment.

The strength of the gel pad material means that veneers can be manoeuvred without any fear of them escaping, or falling on the floor. The gel pad is also extremely resistant, and can be reused multiple times for your convenience (and easily replaced).

Secure Membrane-Frame

VeneerME features a permeable membrane frame, which is clipped onto the base of the box for extra fixation. Made of nylon, the membrane is extremely thin; perfect for rinsing and drying as part of the veneer process.

As with the polyurethane gel base, the secure permeable membrane frame can also be reused several times, and easily replaced if needed.

Preparation Steps Using Veneer ME:

All of the internal veneer preparation process (acid etching, silanization) can take place on the sticky base pad of VeneerME. Offering total security from beginning to end, the VeneerME box can be involved in every step of the veneer preparatory process. For total safety from the outset, you can place the veneers on the sticky gel base, for try in. After the try in, veneers can be placed back on the sticky pad. To facilitate ease of use, veneers can be placed in order on the pad (and matched to the number details on the middle circle).

1. Acid Etching & Rinsing

Acid etching can take place with total safety using the polyurethane gel base. As the veneers are attached; hydrofluoric acid can be applied for etching, followed by rinsing through the mesh (which provides stability for the veneers during this process). For total protection (and to reduce alcohol wastage), the VeneerME box can be used during ultrasonic bath treatments. Simply half fill the cover of the VeneerME box with alcohol, screw on the lid, and place into the ultrasonic bath for five minutes (before pouring the alcohol away).

 2. Drying

With the mesh membrane frame tightly screwed in place, the veneers can be dried whilst stuck to the gel base, using a hair dryer. Once unscrewed, the veneers should maintain their stability, however if any spots are unstable, this can be easily rectified by drying any wet spots (which will ensure the strength of the gel pad returns). At this point the veneers will once again be secure, ready for application of silane, a subsequent bonding agent, and finally, luting resin. The screw cover can be closed at this point to prevent light application, prior to patient application.

 3. Application

Finalising veneer treatment is easy with VeneerME; with the box providing a stable clean base for the fully prepared veneers, reducing the risk of mistakes and providing maximum protection. Using the VeneerME box also means clinicians can work in the best conditions, safe in the knowledge that the box provides a full solution for the manipulation of hyper-delicate veneers.
