Optident and Ultradent donate supplies to international charity Dentaid, helping hundreds of children in Morocco, Cambodia, Kenya and Malawi.
Optident and Ultradent are proud to continue their support of international charity Dentaid in their mission to improve the world’s oral health. Thanks to their donation of fluoride varnish units and volunteers working with the Dentaid team; hundreds of children living in poor and remote communities will have healthier teeth.
Throughout 2019 their donation has reached thousands of children in poor and remote communities, offering many with their only chance to see a dentist; and a valuable chance to learn about oral education. In many of the countries the outreach team visited, such as Uganda and Morocco; the daily diet of the local children is high in sugar, leading to widespread dental decay.
Volunteers from the overseas outreach team treated those in need with Enamelast fluoride varnish; an excellent preventative adjunct to the essential dental care provided. To date, the team have treated a total of 828 patients in Uganda, 1450 patients in Morocco, 340 patients in Cambodia, 700 patients in Malawi, and 353 patients in Kenya.
The dental outreach team have worked tirelessly at each posting to ensure every child has been seen, treating both children and adults in busy clinics; receiving letters of thanks and praise for their work and the service Dentaid has provided.
As many Ugandans can’t afford basic dental care, Enamelast will prove invaluable in the fight against further dental decay. Speaking of the donation Jacqueline James, Dentaid's overseas project manager noted:

Marketing Manager for Optident, Rebecca Haworth-Johnson added: ‘We are proud to donate 1200 units of the popular Enamelast fluoride varnish. This will go a small way to help Dentaid’s mission providing much needed dental care for vulnerable communities globally. As both Optident and Ultradent pride themselves on enabling dentists to provide the best level of dental care for patients, our contact with Dentaid is a humble reminder that many people do not have access to the most basic dental care. It is a privilege to contribute to an organisation that strives to help those most in need, and we are impressed with the enthusiasm and dedication Dentaid bring to their wide-ranging initiatives’.
Dentaid was founded in 1996 and works to improve oral health around the world. The charity sends volunteer dental professionals and reconditioned equipment to support the work of dentists in poor and remote communities. Dentaid also runs education, training and tooth brushing programmes.
