David Butterfield Wins Outstanding Contribution To Dentistry Award

We are so proud to announce that David Butterfield, past Chairman of Optident, was presented the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Dentistry’ award at the ‘Industry Awards 19’ in London.

Optident was formed in 1987 by David Butterfield along with his wife Kathy, son Tim and daughter Tessa in Yorkshire. Forged on the back of David’s extensive career in the dental business, the knowledge and the relationships he had built globally helped build the company's international reputation as a leader in the dental industry. Optident still to this day pioneer dental innovation in the UK,  now as part of Henry Schein inc, a global leader in medical supplies, and continues to go from strength to strength, led by Tim Butterfield and his team.

As a crusader in the dental industry, David single handily took on the government and injected millions of his own money to help teeth whitening products be legalised for use by dentists in the UK.  He changed the face of dentistry in so many ways and subsequently is an inspiration and a celebrated global ambassador for the dental world.

Optident employs many local people in the Ilkley area as well as a UK wide sales team and holds its position as a high end knowledgeable and experienced team of professionals. Optident offer renowned educational services to dentists, introducing them to the latest technology and techniques from around the world. Through courses and masterclasses Optident continue to provide valuable education to dentists and dental professionals, often in the in-house lecture theatre at the Optident HQ in Ilkley.

As David Butterfield says: “It’s important for dentists to be kept up to date with products, and therefore Optident's focus on further education has proved to be an invaluable asset to the company and to customers.”

Son Tim added: "We at Optident pride ourselves on the service we offer our customers – we have the utmost confidence in our products and work closely with dentists, building productive and long-lasting professional relationships."

David continues to be a mentor and adviser to many people in the industry, sharing his vast experience of both the dental world and business acumen. David's motto ‘just keep going’ has been adopted here at Optident by our staff and is something we will never fail to deliver on.

In our eyes, there is no one more deserving than this great man. Read more fabulous comments on the celebratory Facebook post below from Optident Marketing Manager, Rebecca Haworth-Johnson.
